Finally Cooling Down A Little
A cold front went through last night and it’s in the low 60’s today. Even though it feels cool compared to what we’ve had, it’s still not very cool for dog work. I had Missy out in the fields behind my house this afternoon getting back into whistle commands, and doing a little retrieving work. After about 30 minutes I was sweating and Missy was getting pretty hot. Missy flushed a bonus rabbit. There are no birds in that area, but quite a few rabbits. Dog days of summer
Missy and I did a lot of water work this summer. It’s good retrieving training and good exercise for her, and there isn’t much else you can do with a working dog during the hot summer months. I’m hoping to get her out on some woodcocks and grouse soon, but it has been a hot August and early September with no cool mornings. That is all supposed to change in the next couple of days with a strong cold front, so I plan to get her out chasing woodcocks and grouse in the mountains on Saturday morning.
